My wife tipped me to an artist named Dan Dunn. You MUST watch this youtube. In it, he paints an amazing patriotic tribute to our country. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Normally I would have some type of comment or statement, but Mr. Dunn sums everything up for us with his lightning fast brush strokes. At least some of our nation’s artistic community still believes in the country that gives them the right to show how much they hate it. Bravo Dan.
When I first saw this video, I laughed and gave the poor fellow my sympathy. As I watched it a second time, I started thinking of how the donkey acted. This video could be construed as a symbolic metaphor for how democrats act toward the American people.
First, you have the donkey - the obvious symbol of the Democratic party. Secondly, you have a man, possibly a minority, who is moving about the field (America) minding his own business, and trying to accomplish something without being harassed. Along comes our donkey…
Here is where the metaphor kicks in. The donkey is trying desperately to pin the man down, make him submit to its will. The man is quite aware of the danger the donkey represents, and is trying everything possible to escape the donkey’s onslaught. This is just how democrats behave toward Americans! “We know what’s best for you! You will do it this way, or we’ll pass laws to MAKE you do it this way.” Unfortunately, the donkey wins in the end.
The only silver lining to this sad, sad story is that in winning, the donkey shows its true colors. Yes, it got its way, but to do that, it had to screw the man in the butt - just like democrats screw the American people to get their way! Now that you know what democrats intend for you, your ability to fight them is enhanced.
It astounds me how well art echoes life. Democrats have been screwing the people for a long time, and the people have been willingly paying the bills - in essence carrying the Democrat load. Here, art imitates life. The biggest enigma is whether or not the sculptor is a Democrat or a Republican.
A friend of mine sent me this photo on email the other day. Along with the photo was a caption that proposed a theory that this statue was commissioned by the Kennedy’s, in appreciation for what the good, but naive people of Massachusetts have allowed them to do to this country. Personally, I believe that it was created by the profits of Michael Moore’s books, movies, and whiny speaking engagement fees. I would love to hear what some of you think about this statue’s history and/or significance. Also, if any of you happen to know where this statue is actually located, please let us know!
The photo below is intended to bring home the reason for the funeral. My wife’s father took the picture, and her family knew the soldier who died. Please take a moment to thank the man being buried in the photo, and all our servicemen and women in harm’s way at this moment, and those who have fought and died in previous conflicts.
Having talked to several soldiers, I know that most believe in the good that is being done by our forces in the Middle East. The politics of an election year are dictating most of what is being said in the media. They do not appreciate the flip-flopping being done by certain Representatives and Senators. Please keep in mind that despite what Clinton, Obama, and others are saying, the majority of Congress voted to send our soldiers into battle, and our military is doing a great job.
Remember that politics is smoke and mirrors. Our people are dying doing a difficult job they believe in. It is our duty to support them, regardless of the errors, real or imagined, that their political masters have made.
Thank a soldier today, and pray for their fallen comrades.
Friends, I’ve been looking at my regular diet of internet sites that discuss conservatism, liberalism, guns, anti-guns, laws, politics, news, etc. One common theme has emerged: Conservative sites proclaim that liberals want to ban, legislate, and regulate every aspect of our lives, and the liberal sites say the same thing (in different words).
The rub, however, is that in order for the liberals to have the freedom to blab their stupidity to the masses, someone somewhere died while carrying a firearm for this country. Guns are freedom. Is this not apparent?
I ask the above question because I constantly run into people, even in sleepy Casper, WY, that believe guns are inherently evil and should not be available for public use and ownership. The mere fact that I own a gunshop and make my living by powder and ball frightens many people. What has this country come to?
Without the firearms that the Constitution guarantees us we would not have the power to control our government. That is a simple fact. Every society that does not have the freedom of weapon ownership (and that’s all of them outside of the US) has higher taxes, less representation, and less worldly power.
So what is so evil about firearms that would make a lot of people in the US want to ban them? I want to hear your ideas. I can parrot Rush, Ann Coulter, the NRA, etc., but I want to hear what you people think.
My own belief is that liberal people (aka democrats) are largely city dwellers, and thus exposed to the gangs, the crime, the “powerlessness of poverty” which I read as the “laziness of people who make excuses.” The only use of guns that they have ever been exposed to is the drive-by shootings in their neighborhoods. They know nothing about the use of weapons for hunting, carrying them for personal defense, and the personal ownership required to protect yourself from the government.
Following a gradual build-up of liberal animosity to weapons beginning in approximately 1970, the left has pushed for the total removal of guns from the US population. I find this astounding. Was it not the power of the gun that integrated the University of Alabama? Was it not the power of the gun (or the threat of it) that stayed the USSR’s ambition? Is it not the power of the gun that ultimately enforces all our laws?
So my take on the liberal hatred of firearms is that the people are uninformed, uneducated, and uncaring about their responsibilities as Americans. They simply want everything their way, without cost, and without accountability.
The following story was reported by FoxNews.com via the AP on July 9, 2007:
“HOUSTON — A state lawmaker who opposed a bill giving Texans stronger right to defend themselves with deadly force pulled a gun and shot a man he says was trying to steal copper wiring from a construction site, police said Monday.
Rep. Borris Miles told police he was fixing a leak on the second floor of the Houston house he’s building Sunday night when he heard a noise downstairs and saw two men trying to steal the copper. After Miles confronted the pair, one of the men threw a pocketknife at him, Houston Police spokesman Victor Senties.
Miles, a former law enforcement officer, shot the man in the left leg, police said. The wounded suspect was being treated at a Houston hospital. Police were trying to identify the other suspect.
Charges of aggravated robbery are pending against the wounded suspect, Senties said.
Police said Miles, who is in his freshman term, is licensed to carry a concealed weapon. No charges have been filed against Miles, Senties said.
Miles, a Democrat, voted against a bill that gives Texans stronger legal right to defend themselves with deadly force in their homes, vehicles, and workplaces. The so-called “castle doctrine,” passed by the Legislature this year, states that a person has no duty to retreat from an intruder before using deadly force. The law goes into effect Sept. 1.”
Now is it just me, or does this make you want to laugh and cry at the same time? The same people who want to limit our access to life saving weapons claiming that they are unsafe, unnecessary, and overly deadly are the same ones who use the weapons themselves! I love it when double standards are exposed. This person’s life wasn’t even in imminent danger! He could have left via the back door, or simply waited for the thieves to leave before calling the police. Evidently, his copper was worth forcing a confrontation with a simple thief. He ought to be thankful the thief did not have something more effective than a pocket knife to throw.
Pass this one around - every gun lover should read it!
I received a call from my father today. He told me that OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) was considering the adoption of some new rules that would affect my business. He went on to give me the particulars:
1. Small arms ammunition sales would be virtually impossible.
2. Transportation of ammunition, ammunition components, and mixed shipments would be restricted.
That’s it in a nutshell without all the government legalese. For the details and the opportunity to comment on the proposed regulations, go to: www.regulations.gov and search for docket OSHA-2007-0032 .
OSHA is effectively trying to ban the sale of small arms ammunition by regulation instead of by law. If this is ratified, several things will happen:
1. Thousands of small businesses will be forced to close. The new regulations will require so much money to adopt that 99% of existing businesses will close. This will negatively affect all aspects of our economy. People who used to operate a small store to provide for their families will be out of work, possibly on public assistance, and not paying as much in taxes.
2. Those businesses who manage to stay open will be forced to increase the prices of their goods to offset the outrageous cost of implementing these new proposed regulations. This will negatively affect all areas of our economy as well. First, people will have to pay more for their sporting goods. Second, the GOVERNMENT will have to pay more for the ammunition and explosives that our own MILITARY uses. Third, everything else will cost more, too. Why? Simple: A plumber who likes to shoot will still buy his ammunition. Instead of paying $10 a box for shells, he’ll have to pay $50 a box ( or some other outrageous price). Consequently, when the plumber shows up to fix your water heater, your bill will be higher. That’s inflation in action - courtesy of your government.
3. Lastly, the widespread ownership and responsible use of firearms will basically cease to exist. The 2nd Amendment will be crushed by the stroke of a pen instead of an Amendment to the Constitution.
Friends, fight for your liberties. We are giving our freedoms away without even trying to protect them. This is just the latest challenge. Write your congressmen, sign petitions, support the NRA/ILA, let your friends know. If you don’t, you just may be surprised when you next go into your favorite sporting goods store or gunshop and cannot find a box of shells.
